Why it is important to involve parents in preschool education
The most important stage of cognitive development occurs in preschool. Young children absorb
information and stimuli from the outside world like a sponge. If parents and kindergarten mutually work together, they can give children the full support they need to develop their potential.
Parents know their children best and are their first teachers. When children start kindergarten, the parental role changes. Many parents get the feeling that now they are no longer needed and the children are all the essentials in kindergarten. However, it is in the best interest of the child that parents remain active figures in the education process.
It is important for children to have supportive parents. To appreciate their progress and success, to support them in times of trouble. Parental attention helps to improve children’s confidence, motivation and general well-being and helps to solve many behavioral problems.
The key to success is the link between home and nursery. Parents who are aware of what milestones their child has already achieved and what they are doing in kindergarten, can build on the school activities at home. They can transfer the knowledge gained in the classroom into everyday practice, helping children to practice their skills and improve their skills. Children perceive the home environment more positively and achieve better results there.
How to involve parents in kindergarten
1. Meet
Invite parents to the nursery to get to know the environment and staff. Build relationships
in a friendly atmosphere to help parents relax and become more willing to participate in the nursery.
2. Communicate
Meet with parents at class meetings, swap a few words when handing over your child, communicate regularly via the app. With the Twigsee appparents are always on top of important information. Let the parents know what’s going on at the preschool. They often don’t hear from the kids. Share photos and videos of the day with them, keep them informed about the child’s progress and school activities.

3. Engage them
Let parents get involved. They can help prepare school events, participate in school
or show up in the classroom. It’s a great experience for children when parents come in to tell them about their jobs, bring a pet to show them around, or maybe help them make a birdhouse.
4. Advise them
Try to advise parents on how best to develop their children’s talents and newly acquired skills
in the home environment. Give them advice on active learning through play, recommend books to read together.
5. Give thanks
Don’t forget to tell your parents that you appreciate their support. Thank them for making your work workload, they took the time to get involved.
